  • Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue dog from Northern Lakes Rescue (NLR).  We appreciate your patience through our adoption process and want you to know our processes were created to ensure our dogs go into wonderful caring families. The final step of the process in bringing your new family member home is to sign the contract and pay the adoption fee. Please read the contract and if you have any questions, please reach out to the coordinator that has been helping with your adoption process. Below is a few reminders and information to understand prior to signing the contract:
    • If you are signing a spay and neuter or a heartworm treatment contract, please read the associated clause in the contract carefully. We will execute our right to return the dog to rescue if either of these clauses are violated. Please note that the dog's microchip will remain in NLR's name until the spay/neuter or heartworm treatment is complete. Upon completion of additional treatment outlined in the contract, we will complete the transfer to you. Our mission is to ensure our dogs are all spayed/neutered and they complete any necessary vetting that we outline in your contract. Not completing the spay/neuter or heartworm treatment could/will result in NLR taking ownership of the dog.
    • If at any time you need to rehome a dog you have adopted from NLR, you MUST contact the rescue first. If for any reason NLR cannot accept the dog back into rescue, you will receive written consent releasing you from your signed contract. Rehoming your dog without informing NLR could/will lead to legal/attorney fees that occur in returning the dog back to the rescue.
    • NLR is here to support you through the process of adopting a dog and we will continue to support you after adoption. Our rescue is proud to say we don’t just adopt a dog and say goodbye, you become a part of our NLR family. Our volunteers/fosters put so much love, enrichment and time into our dogs and we are here to continue to help them in having a happy new beginning in life. Please click the link to join our Facebook Adoption Group, this private group was put into place for updates, support and connecting with our family. Make sure to answer all the questions.
